Upcoming Alumni Shows and Exhibitions

Piety Hyo Choi (MFA '07) is curating and participating in the 2nd group exhibition of the Philadelphia Arts Connection (PAC) entitled, "The Journey of Life II". PAC is an association of Korean-born American artists (include Alice Chung (Certificate '96), Mee Jeong Kim (MFA'97), Rosa Kim Paik (MFA'02), Soo Ahm Ahn (Continuing Education 1997~2000) who are active in the Greater Philadelphia area.  
On May 5th, 2012, The Exhibition will go on display with an opening reception from 3:00-5:00p.m at the gallery of Da Vinci Art Alliance(704 Catharine Street, Philadelphia, PA 190147, 215-829-0466).  The show will feature paintings and sculptures by PAC members and continue until May 30th.  The general public is invited to the reception as well as the show.

Maureen Drdak, (Class of ’75), will be Artist-at-Residence at University of Chicago this May; her collaborative work, “Lung-Ta”, with international composer Dr. Andrea Clearfield will have its Midwest Premiere at the Rockefeller Chapel. (“Lung-Ta” had its East Coast premiere in Philadelphia in 2009 at the University of the Arts.)  Having completed her 2012 Fulbright work in Nepal, “The Prakriti Project”, which established the first synthesis of repousse and contemporary painting, she presented at the Fulbright South Central Asian Regional Conference in Kochin.  Her thesis work, "The Flying Nagas", remains in Nepal where it will be exhibited in Nepal's first International biennale "Artmandu".  Drdak’s twenty-two page exhibition catalog “The Prakriti Project; Eternal Visions—Contemporary Forms”, opens with “ An Appreciation” by Dr. Mary Slusser, respected scholar of the Freer/Sackler Galleries in Washington D.C. and author of the seminal “Nepal Mandala”.  Drdak presented in March on her Fulbright work at the Philadelphia Sketch Club, and recently judged the Annual Student Exhibition at the Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College.


Saskia Ozols Eubanks, (Certificate, 2001, MFA, 2003) I will be exhibiting a series of 20 paintings exploring the role of the figure- From Portraiture to Poetics: Deconstructing the Figure as Motif; and a series of 15 plein air landscapes: The Bridges on the Charles River and Accompanying Flora; at the St. Botolph Club, opening reception Wednesday April 25, 5:30-7pm. 199 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA 02116. The show will run through June 4.

Linda Fantuzzo (Cert. '73) will exhibit in Charleston, SC, May 4-31, 2012 at Corrigan Gallery, 62 Queen Street.  "Landscape Reconfigured" will consist of seventeen current landscapes ranging in size from 5"x7" to 48"x72". www.corrigangallery.com, www.lindafantuzzo.com

MaryKate Maher, (MFA 2004) "Sculpture Garden" curated by Deborah Brown and Lesley Heller May 4-June 3, 2012 The Onderdonk House, Ridgewood NY Opening reception May 4th 6-8pm Closing reception June 3, 3-5pm.  Group exhibition in the outdoor sculpture garden of the historic Vander Ende-Onderdonk House, Queens, NY. Deb K Simon (cert. 06) is currently in a group show "Made You Look" at Tyme Gallery, Havertown. This resulted in a favorable review by Tara Lynn Johnson in The Montgomery News, which includes three papers. The show runs until May 8. Her work will also be in an ARTsisters Show at B-Square Gallery from May 3- June 30. Reception Saturday May 12, 6-8 PM.

Georgette L. Veeder (78) Was invited to participate in the Fiber Philadelphia show 2010, OUTSIDE INSIDE the box at the Crane Building, Philadelphia,  March 2- April 12. And invited to participate in the EV(e)loution show at the Riverside PUBLIC library , NY, NY,  March 1-March 31 Will be in the show HERSTORICALL SPEAKING at the Johnson and Johnson Headquarters, New Brunswick,  NJ, March 23- May 23 and will be in the show NOT JUST PULP, Paper awareness XIII at the  ARTWORKS, Trenton,  NJ, May 5- June 9, 2012

Treacy Ziegler (Cert. '89) has a solo exhibition at the Arnot Art Museum, Elmira, New York:
From Confinement/The Waiting: An Installation.   The show addresses the experience of exhibiting her
artwork in maximum security prisons and navigating confined space through the medium of art.  This installation
is in conjunction with an exhibition of paintings exhibited in the gym of a men's maximum security prison in the midwest.  This  prison exhibition is developed through her non-profit organization, An Open WIndow, affiliated with Cornel University.   The Arnot  Art Museum exhibition is from March 9 though June 9,  2012. www.treacyziegler.comwww.anopenwindowproject.orgwww.arnotartmuseum.org.  Treacy is presenting a paper, "The Phenomenology of Art and Place in A Landscape Of Confinement" at the Interdisciplinary Coalition of North American Phenomenologists in New York City in May.
