Upcoming Alumni Shows and Exhibitions

Jennifer Baker's (Cert. '78) paintings and monoprints chronicle the life, death and rebirth of a city neighborhood during her three decades in Northern Liberties. Northern Liberties: A Transformation will be on display through July 30 at Projects Gallery, 629 N. 2nd St. Nine other Northern Liberties artists will also be shown: Joe Brenman (cert. '78), Tanya Murphy Dodd, Anda Dubinskis, Ray King, Rob Matthews, Ray Metzker, Bruce Pollock, Ruth Thorne-Thomsen and Ira Upin, with works in a variety of media.

Joanne Bosack (MFA '04) has been invited to display her work in The Schuylkill County Council for the Art's Bicentennial Art Exhibit, through Sept. 30, in Pottsville, PA. She had work in The Philadelphia Sketch Club's 150th. Anniversary Legacy Art Show, as well as the 2011 Member's Exhibition at the Sketch Club. T. Mark Cole/ Favi Dubo  (Cert. '83) has won Best in Show Winner at the NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION at the Lancaster County Art Association. The show featured artists from twenty-eight states and Canada. The juror was Anita Shapolsky of Shapolsky Gallery, New York. Another show his abstract panels was accepted into was the 44th ANNUAL ART OF THE STATE, PENNSYLVANIA. This show, featuring artists from throughout the state, is on exhibit at the State Museum in Harrisburg. Maxine Gailbor, Executive Director for the Contemporary Arts, was the juror.

Phebe Hemphill ('87) gave form to the front of the new 1-ounce silver medals to be struck at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia. The new silver medals commemorate the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and a large portion of the proceeds will go to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, scheduled to open Sept. 12 at the World Trade Center site in lower Manhattan. Tish Ingersoll ('80) had a painting accepted in the Art of the State: Pennsylvania. This show is recognized as the official statewide juried competition for Pennsylvania artists, and this year is the 44th year for this prestigious exhibit. The exhibition runs through Sept. 18.

Edgar Jerins ('80) will be having a show of his drawings in the exhibition: Edgar Jerins: Unguarded Narratives. The show runs through August 21 at Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, Wilmington. There will be an Artist's Reception on June 3 from 6 to 9:00 p.m.

Joshua Koffman (Faculty, Cert. '04) participated in Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood 2011. Over 500 sculptors have shown their work at Chesterwood since the initial contemporary sculpture exhibition in 1978. Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood (CSC) is a signature event, attracting thousands of visitors each season. Chesterwood, a National Trust Historic Site, is the country home, studio and gardens of America's foremost sculptor of public monuments, Daniel Chester French (1850-1931), creator of the Minute Man and Abraham Lincoln for the Lincoln Memorial.

Ginger Metzger (Cert. '07) has a piece in the show Identify Yourself at the Craft Alliance in St. Louis, MO. The show runs through July 3.

Osvaldo Romberg (Faculty) is showing drawings from the series "Art History" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art from July 6 through October 9 in Gallery 178, ground floor.
