In collaboration with Dolan/Maxwell, the PAFA Alumni Sales Gallery presents work by Morris Blackburn (1902-1979) created between 1939 and 1949. Blackburn grew up in Philadelphia and attended PAFA, where he studied under Arthur B. Carles. Blackburn later served as a PAFA faculty member. Known for his use of both traditional and new painting and printmaking techniques, Blackburn’s work is represented in many private and public collections, including PAFA, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Brooks Memorial Art Gallery, the Clearwater Museum, the U.S. State Department, and others. All works on view are for sale and some of the proceeds will benefit the PAFA Alumni Fund.
