Where are you from? What degrees have you earned at PAFA?
I am from Singapore. I received a Post- Baccalaureate certificate and Master of Fine Arts degree.
Why did you choose PAFA?
I saw the Cast Hall on my first visit and immediately fell in love with that space as it transported me into a different world. The scent, the warm glow of the lights, students sketching from the casts, they were all reminiscent of an idealistic vision. I had heard and read so much of the history of PAFA and suddenly it came alive being in that cast hall, walking into classrooms and visiting the museum. I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of it.
How has being in the US/Philadelphia inspired you and your work?
Living in Philadelphia, in the heart of the city, and going to PAFA has transformed art making into a lifestyle. Everything I do facilitates the artwork and becomes lessons on how to live. Even the most mundane thing, like walking down the street, becomes the work, or plays its role as a muse. Being at PAFA has allowed for an exploration of media and growth in that discovery.
