Deirdre Murphy

Deirdre Murphy received her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000 and her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1991. She teaches drawing and painting at the University of Pennsylvania and at PAFA.
Murphy received the Leeway Grant in 2003 and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship in 2004. She has participated in residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Pouch Cove Foundation in Newfoundland. Her solo exhibitions include the Bridgette Mayer Gallery in Philadelphia and Vita Gallery in Portland, OR. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Painting Center (New York, NY), Abington Art Center (Jenkintown, PA), Contemporary Art Center of Peoria (Peoria, IL), Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts (Wilmington, DE), Bowery Gallery (New York, NY), Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (Portland, OR), and Tacoma Art Museum (Tacoma, WA).
Murphy teaches drawing and painting in the PAFA Continuing Education program.
