Steve Smith

Steve Smith is an accomplished pastel artist, caricaturist and portraitist. He studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Arts Students League in New York.
He has exhibited at the Pastel Society of America and the Society of Illustrators in NY; the Phillips' Mill in New Hope, PA; the Ellarslie Museum, Trenton, NJ; the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia; the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, OH; the Woodstock Artists Association in Woodstock, NY; the Ruth Morpeth Gallery in Hopewell, NJ; and the Metropolitan Opera Employee Gallery in New York, among many others.
He has been an editorial illustration and courtroom artist for CBS-TV, NBC-TV, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. He has received awards from the Ellarslie Museum Open, the Mercer County Annual Art Exhibit and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (Illustration Award). His work is included in the Ellarslie Museum permanent collection.
Smith worked for thirty years as a scenic artist in New York City; his credits include Saturday Night Live, Late Night with David Letterman, numerous feature films, Broadway shows, and the Metropolitan Opera.
Smith teaches Drawing, Pastel and Caricature in the Continuing Education program.
