Allison Syvertsen

Adjunct Faculty, Continuing Ed

Allison Syvertsen received MA and MFA degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BA at Houghton College in New York. As a landscape painter continually seeking to incorporate her daily environment into her work, she finds inspiration in the array of colors, textures and structures of Philadelphia’s side streets and often-overlooked areas. Created through a combination of traditional plein air painting and meticulous in-studio editing, her work focuses on the transformative effect of light and the abstract quality of juxtaposed forms.

She currently shows her work at Cerulean Arts Gallery in Philadelphia. She also coordinates PAFA's Continuing Education program and summer pre-college studies.

Syvertsen teaches Art Fundamentals, Beginning Drawing, Portrait Drawing and Beginning Painting in the Continuing Education program.
