Jill A. Rupinski
Appointed Faculty-Associate Professor, Certificate/BFA/Continuing Ed
Jill A. Rupinski received her BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art (1981), and a Certificate from PAFA (1977). She is known for her surreal and inventive landscape imagery, working with abstract yet observed nature forms. More recently Jill’s work has taken a narrative direction, with inspiration drawn from current topics and personal experience. She is equally a painter in oil and soft pastel, and has widely taught, lectured and demonstrated color, pastel and drawing.
She is represented by Cerulean Arts Gallery and Studio in Philadelphia, where she mounted her last solo exhibition in 2009. Her works and commissions reside in many public and private collections, including Colgate University, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Hospital, University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University.
Among her awards is the prestigious William Emlen Cresson Memorial Travel Scholarship, PAFA, 1976. She was the first recipient of the Philadelphia Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Fine Arts from PAFA, 1977, and a 1997 recipient of the Percy Owens Memorial Award for a Distinguished Pennsylvania Artist, 1997.
Rupinski teaches Basic Color, Cast Drawing, Advanced Cast Drawing, Still Life Painting and Painting from the Masters in the Certificate/BFA program. She is also an instructor in the Continuing Education program.
