Fine Arts Illustration

PAFA’s fine arts training provide a rigorous training for illustrators. Fine arts illustration is part of the Academy traditions. Recalling PAFA alumni and masters of fine arts illustration, such as Maxfield Parrish, the Fine Arts Illustration specialization at PAFA is part of PAFA’s skill-based and discipline-based programs in the fine arts.

Students who choose a specialization in Fine Arts Illustration use the skills and artistic abilities gained in PAFA’s rigorous fine arts programs to learn how to create book arts, narrative and sequential imagery, digital media, illustration technique and other forms of fine arts illustration.

They are assigned a Fine Arts Illustration faculty mentor to create a personal course of study within painting, drawing, sculpture or printmaking. Frequent guest artists and workshops featuring masters of contemporary illustration provide first-hand exposure to the professional world of fine arts illustration. Courses in Business Practices for Artists give you the skills to begin a professional career.
