Summer Academy for High School Students
July 9 - August 3, 2012

Four weeks, four disciplines—unforgettable!

The Summer Academy is the definitive program for talented and motivated high school students: a four-week, college-level art-making experience in the nation’s first and premier school of fine art.

For students contemplating a career in the fine arts or the pursuit of an art degree in college, the benefits of this 4-week, pre-college program are extraordinary:

  • Rigorous courses in drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking
  • An exceptional faculty of PAFA instructors who are, themselves, practicing artists
  • Day trips to the museums and galleries of Philadelphia, New York and Washington, DC, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
  • Visits to artists’ studios, where students learn first-hand how artists develop ideas, create art and build careers
  • Information sessions on applying to art school and preparing a portfolio
  • A culminating student exhibition, complete with a reception and awards ceremony for family and friends in PAFA’s Gallery 128
  • Four college-level credits for students who successfully complete the program.
